School board to host super candidate forum

| April 5, 2023 2:00 AM

The Columbia Falls School District 6 Board of Trustees will have a community forum with the semifinalist candidates for the superintendent position at 6:30 p.m. April 11t at the high school Little Theater.

Folks can meet the candidates and ask them questions.

The names of the semifinalists will not be released by presstime, as the interviews with the board aren’t until April 6.

Right now there are four people in the running for the position — three from Montana and one from Central Wyoming.

After the semifinalists are selected the board will have open interviews on April 12, said board chair Jill Rocksund.

The finalist interviews are open to the public as is the April 11th question and answer session.

Exact times have not been set for the finalist interviews as of presstime, as the school board would have to determine when candidates would be available.

Current superintendent Dave Wick is retiring at the end of the school year after a 40-year career in education, most of it in Columbia Falls.

Wick steered the district through some trying times since he was hired as superintendent in 2019, including the Covid-19 pandemic and the construction and completion of the Glacier Gateway Elementary School and the remodel and addition to Ruder Elementary.

Prior to becoming superintendent he was junior high principal for 23 years.
