Spikers improving, drop Libby
Hungry Horse News
Demye Rensel had 11 kills and the Wildkat volleyball squad dropped Libby at home Friday in four sets, 25-9, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-11.
Rensel also had eight digs and two aces to lead the Kats.
Kierra Kemppainen had a great game, too, with 34 of the team’s 36 assists.
Maddie Moultray and Emalee Alton had eight kills as well.
Ellie Stutsman had three aces and Moultray and Sadie Cheff had two blocks.
Coach Jolandie Brooks is pleased with the team’s progress.
“We came out strong and finished strong. Demye Rensel, one of our juniors and captains, had a great night. We had too many serving and receiving errors in the second set, and we did not recover in time. Our crew, who’ve never played with each other before this season, is primarily sophomores and juniors; it’s fun watching them grow in each match,” Brooks said.
On Tuesday, the girls dropped Whitefish in five sets, 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10.
Moultray had 15 kills in the win.
Kemppainen had 37 assists.
"We had to fight for every point. I love matches like this because you can’t replicate the pressure and intensity the players experience in practice! Super proud of these girls," Brooks said.
