The Blotter: Escaped cow near Blue Moon

Sept. 7

A woman reported that while shopping at Smiths she was crowded by three people near the produce, who stole her checkbook, wallet and $2,000 from her purse. A 10-year -old female called police claiming some older boys had stolen her scooter, police found the boys and the scooter was returned.

Sept. 8

A Trek mountain bike was reported stolen from a shed on Council Bluffs Drive. A female going into labor was told to drive safely by dispatch. A black bear was spotted near Bills Lane hanging around a garbage bin.

Sept. 9

Police on the lookout for a known offender with a rap sheet driving a Green Ford Explorer, no description of suspect. Report of a vehicle collision near Pizza Hut on Highway 2 involving a Ford pickup and a Chevy Equinox, no serious injuries. A renter on 13th Street called police to let them know a fellow resident was smoking, and threatened to pull the fire alarm if the smell continued.

Sept. 10

A resident on A Street complained to police about a neighbor’s husky that was yelping all day, requested law enforcement speak to the owner. A dog named “Kongo” with no tags was dropped off at the police station. A driver was flashing his lights on Highway 2 near the Blue Moon letting others know there was a cow on the road, the cow had escaped through a hole in the fence and was later returned.

Sept. 11

A customer at Pizza Hut on Highway 2 was causing a disturbance and refused to leave the restaurant. The bear was spotted eating dinner out of the garbage cans on Bills Lane, probably the same one. Game warden was advised.
