| September 11, 2022 6:55 PM

The City of Columbia Falls is seeking applications for an interim city councilor after longtime councilor Doug Karper announced his resignation last week. The deadline for submissions to council has been extended to Sept. 19 (Monday) before the 7 p.m. council meeting.

Karper and his wife are moving to Arizona, he told council.

Karper was a councilor for more than 23 years. He was well-liked and community-minded. He helped organize the city’s Arbor Day celebration each year and was also a member of the Rotary.

The city has 30 days to fill the position.

The term runs until December 2023.

Letters of interest are invited from candidates who have resided within the Columbia Falls City limits for at least 60 days who wish to be considered for appointment. Qualified candidates can drop off letters of interest at city hall or email staalandb@cityofcolumbiafalls.com. City hall's address is 130 6th Street West, Columbia Falls, MT, 59912.
