C-Falls Junior High students share their biographies
This fall, Jennifer Robbins’ seventh grade English Language Arts students read many examples of interesting author biographies from young adult novels. Then, they wrote their own author biographies using specific, interesting details and a strong voice that shows who they are as people. The following are the two top biographies, as chosen by junior high writing teachers.
About Travis Banks
Travis is a 12-year-old enthusiast of introversion and capybaras. When Travis Banks is not at his kooky junior high school, he can be found roaming town on a skateboard, on the mountain snowboarding in powder, or at the baseball field practicing his batting. He can also be found playing video games in his basement, on a lake somewhere, or on his trampoline learning to triple back flip. He lives with his parents, a brother, a sister, and a lazy dog. Travis has never been to Greece but has yet to not enjoy a piece of Greek culture. When Travis is at his house, he can be seen drinking insane amounts of chocolate milk, gaming and shooting hoops. He likes to hike, raft, and enjoys being outside. Overall, he is an athletic animal lover at heart.
Banks likes skateboarding, doing dumb stuff, video games, basketball, reading good books, playing Nerf Russian roulette with hard-tipped bullets, soccer, TV, anime, friends, Haribo gummy bears, Takis, doughnuts, snakes, snacks, dogs, family reunions and Coke.
Banks dislikes mosquitoes, nachos without enough cheese, rude people, getting hurt, road trips, crying babies (especially on planes), relish, mustard, pickles, Mondays, tea, weddings, Mott’s fruit snacks, bloody noses, when someone steals his seat at a movie, and long shorts.
About Oziah Watstein
Oziah Watstein has never done anything too stupid but is constantly looking for ways to add a little thrill to her life.
She’s a city girl at heart (even though she lives in the woods), and a professional time waster. She’s never watched an original Marvel movie but has yet to find a Disney movie she doesn’t love.
Oziah spends most of her time shopping for trinkets she doesn’t need with her friends while also being stupider than she usually is, cruising the little shops in Kalispell, and pondering what she’s going to wear the next day.
When Oziah is not sitting in a dull, old classroom, she can be found lying in bed wasting time, taking way too many pictures of the sky/sunsets, and attempting to find the perfect (iced) drink. Even though she is probably the worst dancer in the entire universe, Oziah absolutely loves to dance like a maniac in her room. She has two psychotic dogs, one small yet sassy Yorkie, and one huge but sweet Newfoundland, accompanied by two cats whose favorite place in the world is her roof.
Likes: sunsets, little coffee shops, the Halloween season, local events, books/book stores, music, swimming, running, the smell when you walk into a library or a bookstore, snacks, theater, blankets, candy/sweet things, cereal, true crime, energy drinks, Converse sneakers, stickers, beaches, dancing, nail polish, jewelry.
Dislikes: humidity, math, spicy things, clowns, gumballs, when the hood on a hoodie is just a little too small so it’s super awkward and uncomfortable, warm seats, sore throat spray/any cough medicine, the dentist, books with a real-looking photograph on the cover.
