Flathead Valley citizens can learn about candidate climate positions during an event sponsored by the Flathead Valley chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby on Saturday, October 22nd, from 1 - 4 p.m. at Backslope Brewing,

This “second’’ Earth Day draws attention to the importance of the midterm elections, emphasizing how conservation minded voters can make an impact by electing climate-forward candidates, the organization claims.

“Our goal for Earth Day: Election Edition is educating about environmental concerns, climate-forward solutions, and especially the positions of our Montanan candidates, so voters can cast an informed vote on Nov. 8,” said Angie Winter, co-leader of the Flathead Valley chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby.

Dr. Annie Bukacek, John Repke, Monica Tranel, John Lamb, and Ryan Zinke have been invited to attend to mix with voters. Forward Montana will be assisting the public with voter registration and several other organizations will discuss climate solutions they are promoting.

“Democracy relies on the active participation of all voters,” Winter said. “As for climate, it’s critical to educate more members of our community about the collective impact we can have, and show our political candidates that we’re ready for climate action.”

The event is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
