Bitterly cold by early next week

| November 3, 2022 1:50 PM

More snow. Some rain. Then mid-winter like cold and even more snow.

That’s what’s on tap for the next few days the National Weather Service is predicting.

Friday should see snow levels rise to upper elevations as an atmospheric river passes through, dumping some rain in the valley and upwards of a foot or more of snow in the higher terrain.

Snow levels will then drop again later Saturday to valley floors with gusty winds.

On Sunday into Monday, an arctic cold front is expected to sweep through with more cold and snow and high winds.

Highs will be 18-19 Monday and Tuesday. By Tuesday night, Kalispell could see the record low shattered as temperatures could drop to 2 below zero. The previous record for Nov. 8 was 7 degrees in 1911. The last time Kalispell was even below zero in November was Nov. 15, 2014, when it dropped to 1 below.

Temperatures should moderate by the end of the next week, with highs near 33 by Friday, but it will only be in the 20s Wednesday and Thursday.

It could also be quite snowy next week as well, as moisture will come off the Pacific and mix with the cold air.

Winter is definitely here.
