Community events: Free meals coming up

Canyon Free meal

The free Canyon dinner is  5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Canyon Elementary School. Menu will be  sweet Italian sausage marinara sauce served over pasta with a green salad with balsamic vinaigrette and garlic bread.  For dessert is Tiramisu  cake.  We will be serving sit down and also take out for those that wish too so come on in and join us we will love to see you.  Coffee and water will also be served.

Columbia Falls free meals

Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will be serving free, delicious meals on May 30 and 31 at 5 p.m. in the basement of St. Richard’s Catholic Church.  We are nondenominational and welcome everyone.

Garage sale

The North Valley Senior Center will have a garage sale in June. Date to be determined. To donate, contact the center on Nucleus Avenue.

Memorial Day

The Columbia Falls American Legion Freedom Post will have its annual Memorial Day walk from the Nite Owl to the Flathead River bridge to honor deceased sailors lost at sea. They then hike back to the veterans wall at Marantette Park with an 11th plaque of local veterans placed on the wall by veteran Mike Shepard. The walk starts at 10 a.m. The local Scout Troops 1941 and 1941G will also have a flag burning ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Montana Veterans Home as well.
