Tennis squads head into divisional round this week

The Columbia Falls tennis squads wrapped up the regular season last week with duals against Corvallis, Hamilton and Libby.

The boys were edged by Corvallis 4-3, beat Hamilton 4-3 and Libby 4-3. The girls lost to Corvallis 6-1, tied Hamilton 3-3 and beat Libby 5-2.

Highlights included Dale Blickhan beating Blue Devil Braeden Gager 6-4, 6-1 in No. 2 singles. Blickhan also dropped Thomas Roark of Libby 6-4, 7-5.

Against Hamilton, Cade Morgan and Cody Schweikert won a marathon match in No. 1 doubles against Broncs Andy Purcell and Isaac Harmon 6-1, 6-7 (2-7), (10-2).

In No. 1 singles, Cloey Ramage beat Logger Jenna Hammond 6-0, 6-0.

The team now heads to the divisional tourney at Flathead Valley Community College, hosted by Whitefish. The matches are currently scheduled for Thursday and Friday, but depending on the weather, could extend into the weekend.
