Maddie Moultray pitched out of a bases load jam and Kyrah Trenkle had a homer as the Columbia Falls softball team blanked Libby 10-0 at home Friday.

It took awhile for the Wildkats to get their bats going on a cold and blustery day.

The wind was blowing in and it proved tough for either team to get a ball deep into the outfield.

But the Kats were able to break things open in the bottom of the third and then in fourth, as rain began to fall, they blew it open with six runs.

Moultray, Aspen Dawson and Haden Peters all had RBIs in the fourth.

Demye Rensel also had a triple in the game and did a fine job behind the plate. Moultray struck out six and walked two.

The Kats had a tougher time fielding, however, with four errors.

They’re now 14-2 overall.

They’re scheduled to play Browning at 5 p.m. Tuesday at home after presstime. They then travel to Butte Friday and Saturday for the tournament there.

Earlier in the week the Kats walloped Ronan, 16-6 on the road.

Rensel hit three home runs and Abbie Darsow slugged two more. Moultray allowed five hits, two walks and one earned run in six innings. But she did have one mistake — allowing Ronan’s Kiara Sherman’s a two-run homer in Ronan’s four-run fifth inning. Moultray struck out seven.

The Libby game was only their second home game of the season. On Tuesday they had their third home game of the season, dropping hapless Browning, 20-0 in a game that lasted two innings.
