Girls open season with a pair of wins in Polson

The Columbia Falls softball team went 2-0 in Polson to open the season, dropping Class B Plains 21-4 and Butte Central 10-0.
Maddie Moultray and Haden Peters teamed up for the shutout against Plains. Moultray struck out six and Peters struck out two.
Haylee Lawrence went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Moultray and Demye Rensel both hit dingers to lead the Wildkats. Abbie Darsow had a great day at the plate with four RBIs. Rensel had two.
All told the Kats racked up nine hits and walked five times.
Against Central, Darsow continued her tear, with four hits and four RBIs. The Kats had 17 hits against Central as the Kats racked up 13 runs in the third inning.
Peters took the win on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out five. Peters and Rensel came in to finish off the game in relief.
Sydney Mann had a triple.
The Kats are scheduled to have their home opener against Glacier on April 7.
