Women meet

Columbia Falls Women’s Connection will host a luncheon on Wednesday, July 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 827 9th St West in Columbia Falls.  Guest speakers Sweet Retreat Creamery will share about their Columbia Falls business and Teresa Daniels, an inspirational speaker and author will share about her book, “Words to Lift By.”  Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for The Veteran’s Food Pantry. Cost is $10 and all women are welcome to attend. Glass recycling

Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley is partnering with Flathead Recon, A Columbia Falls-based recycling facility, to minimize recyclables going into our landfills and benefit Habitat’s mission. Glass must be clean, color sorted, and have all plastic rings removed. Proceeds cover the cost of recycling and help support Habitat’s mission. Suggested donation is a $1 per pound of glass. The event is Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your glass to 455 Fourth Ave. NE in Columbia Falls.

MSU grads

The following students from Columbia Falls graduated this spring from Montana State University: Stefano Abreo, Genevieve Devitt, Hayden Falkner, Brendan Gibson, Faith McGehee, Carla Nicosia, Emily Scallen, Demi Sullivan, Aaron Torgerson.

Ribeye raffle

Now in its seventh year, Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Ribeye Raffle has raised $17,246 in cash and donated approximately 1,720 pounds of meat to area food banks. Tickets for this year’s raffle are on sale now.

 The Co-op purchases stock during the yearly 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) Market Sale during the Northwest Montana Fair. Most of the meat goes to local food banks, except for the prime steak cuts, which are raffled off. The cash proceeds are also donated to local food banks.

 The winners of the raffle take home approximately 60 one-inch premium t-bone and ribeye steaks, valued at over $500 per winner. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six. They can be purchased through Aug., online at flatheadelectric.com/ribeyeraffle, at the Co-op’s Kalispell and Libby offices, and at the Co-op’s booth during the Northwest Montana Fair in August. Winners are announced Aug. 23.

Hoops tourney

The Columbia Fall Chamber of Commerce three-on-three basketball tournament is Aug. 13 in front of the high school. Teams range from fifth and sixth grade girls and boys up to adults. Cost is $100 a team. All teams must register at columbiafalls chamber.org. To get a shirt, register by July 29.

Community Band in C-Falls

The Flathead Valley Community Bands planning to present “An Evening in the Park” concert on Wednesday July 20 in Marantette Park in Columbia Falls at 7:15 p.m. The band is under the direction of Allen Slater.

FVCB is a 501(c) (3), nonprofit organization with one goal: to provide music to a variety of audiences throughout the valley. Our purpose is to provide enjoyment and create a sense of community for both our band members and those who hear us play. The band is closing in on 50 years as an establish organization and is the oldest continuously operating private musical group in the greater Flathead Valley. The group returns this summer with the financial support of a grant from the Whitefish Community Foundation along with donations from individuals.
