The Columbia Falls girls basketball team got a key conference win last week, thumping rival Browning 59-36 at home Thursday, but losing to Loyola Sacred Heart on the road Saturday, 67-60.

The Wildkats were led by Grace Gedlaman, who had her best game of the season, with 21 points against Browning.

Hope McAtee also had a stellar night shooting with 19 points.

Maddie Robison had rebounds and eight assists.

Coach Cary Finberg said the Browning game, defensively, was the best game of the year, but the Loyola game was a “dud.”

“No excuses,” he said. “We weren’t ready to go.”

Finberg noted that defensively they weren’t very good and Loyola made them pay.

Gedlaman had 23 points in the loss to Loyola, as she’s been playing tough, aggressive basketball in the paint.

They were edged by Bigfork on the road Tuesday night, 38-30.

The girls are 8-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Their only conference loss was to Browning by one point earlier this season.

Finberg said the girls just need to play more consistent basketball as they enter the last third of the season.
