The Columbia Falls boys basketball team had a tough time on the road against conference foe Browning last week, losing 90-57, but thumped Loyola Sacred Heart at home Saturday night 65-40.

The Wildcats had a tough time getting any offense going against the Indians in a game where they also had 20 turnovers.

“Pretty much everything that could go wrong, did,” coach Chris Finberg said. He noted the Indians were 5 for 5 from treys in the first quarter alone as Browning shot out to a 23-10 lead.

Jace Hill led the Wildcats with 21 points in the loss. No one else was in double figures.

Against Loyola, things went much better. The Cats had just seven turnovers. Hill had 14, Alihn Anderson had 15, including four steals and Mark Robison chipped in nine.

“It was our best defensive game of the year,” Finberg said. “They didn’t get too many easy looks.”

The boys rocked Bigfork on Tuesday, 49-28.

The boys are now 2-3 in conference play and 6-4 overall.

Polson is playing better basketball than when the Cats beat them on the road earlier this year, so it should be a great game.
