Hoops: Girls drop Loggers, but boys struggle on the road
Hungry Horse News
The Columbia Falls basketball teams split last week against Libby and the weather postponed a doubleheader against Class B Shelby.
The boys lost to the Loggers on the road 61-49. The Wildcats could only muster 8 points in the first half and just 2 in the second quarter as the Loggers were up 29-8 at the break.
They’d bounce back a bit with 41 in the second half, but the gap was too much to make up.
The girls hammered Libby at home, 64-10. The Wildkat defense held the Lady Loggers scoreless in the first quarter as they shot out to an 18-0 lead and never looked back.
Hope McAtee led all scorers with 18, Maddie Robison had 12 and Grace Gedlaman had 8 to lead the Kats.
Ten Kats ended up in the scoring column.
Poor weather on the east side of the mountains canceled a doubleheader against Shelby that was scheduled at home Saturday. It’s been rescheduled for Feb. 4 with girls at 4 p.m. and boys at 5:30 p.m.
