Emma Stephens and Eddie Chisholm of Columbia Falls qualified for the national speech and debate tournament in Louisville, Kentucky over the weekend.

The pair compete in policy debate.

Teammate Griffin Conger qualified in dramatic interpretation.

This is the second year the three of them have qualified for nationals.

Zack Tillman was a second alternate in dramatic interpretation; Ruby Davis was a fourth alternate in informative speaking; Quinn Caudle and Lauren Rogers were fourth alternates in policy debate and Raphe Salmon was a fourth alternate in Lincoln Douglas.

The team competed in the Western District Qualifying Tournament held Friday and Saturday at Flathead High School.

The event pits speakers from across classes against each other. The Wildcats took fifth overall.

A fundraiser to help defray expenses for them to go to Louisville is being planned and updates will be provided when they become available.
