The Columbia Falls boys basketball team went 1-2 on the week. On Thursday, they lost to Libby at home 53-44 in a game that was closer than the score would suggest.
Then on Friday at home they squeaked past Class B Shelby 56-54, but lost to the Coyotes 51-49 Saturday on the road.
Jace Hill had 19 to lead the Wildcats in the Shelby home game. Cade Morgan and mark Robison had 8 apiece.
Shelby had a 45-30 lead after three, but the Cats stormed back and then held on as Shelby missed a three and a put-back attempt in the final seconds.
The Libby game was a tale of two halves, as the Cats had the lead at the break, 23-21.
But Libby outscored the Cats 22-17 in the third and the Cats had just four points in the fourth as the Loggers pulled away for the win.
Hill had 15 points to lead the Cats.
Alihn Anderson had 8. One key to the game was when Mason Peters fouled out in the second half — the Cats rely on his defense and without him in the lineup, it was a tough go for the team.
The boys are now 8-7 overall and 2-5 in conference play. They play Ronan on the road Thursday, then Whitefish away Saturday and Ronan at home next Tuesday in a makeup game that was postponed due to illness by the Ronan team earlier this season.
