Cabin Fever Days coming up
The bar stool races are the top draw at the annual Cabin Fever Days in the Canyon communities of Hungry Horse, Martin City and Coram.

The 43rd annual Cabin Fever Days is coming up in a couple of weeks, but folks interested in competing the bar stool races down Martin City’s Sugar Hill need to get their sleds registered soon.
This year pre-registration for sleds is online and registrations are due by Feb. 7, organizers say.
The registration form is available at cabinfeverdays.com. Cost is $20 per entry. The event is Feb. 11-13.
The races have featured a host of different craft over the years, but the original, and traditional sleds were bar stools with skis nailed to the legs.
Mike Murray, a barstool racer extraordinaire, is reportedly coming out of retirement to race down Sugar Hill once again.
Organizers have added two more live music venues at the new Dew Drop Inn and the Paul Bunyan Bar. In addition, there will be a live emcee at the top of the hill with music to announce the racers.
Qualifying runs start at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 and Sunday, Feb. 13 with finals at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Other events start Friday with pool tourneys, co-ed leg wrestling and a dart tourney as well as live music at the local bars in the Canyon from Hungry Horse to Coram.
Saturday also features an arm wrestling tourney at the Stonefly Lounge, snowshoe softball, and a mountain man competition at Packer’s Roost. The mountain man competition finals are Sunday at 5 p.m. at Packer’s.
There’s also kids sled races and other events at the Martin City Fire Hall.
Proceeds from the event each year benefit the Martin City Volunteer Fire Department, Hungry Horse Volunteer Fire Department, Canyon Quick Response Unit and more events and causes which improve the community for residents and visitors alike.
