Swimmers do well at first meet of the season

The Columbia Falls swim team had a great showing at its opening meet in Kalispell Saturday.

The girls were fifth overall and tops in class A schools, beating Polson by two points while the boys took fourth overall and were second to Polson, who edged the boys by two points.

“This group of swimmers is looking promising. Their hard work over the past few weeks has paid off,” coach Amy Caudill said The boys were without one of their top swimmers in Adam Schrader, who was taking his college entrance exams.

Top swimmers for the boys were Connor Keith, who was fifth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.60, and first in 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.29 and Quinn Clark who was ninth in the 50 Free with a 26.77 and fourth in the 100 butterfly with a 1:12.13.

On the girls’ side, Sadie Cheff was eighth in the 100 free with a 1:04.14; seventh in the 100 breast at 1:22.33. Kaylee King was seventh in the 50 free with a 29.30.

In the relays, the boys took third in the 200 free relay and second in the 400 free relay.
