Grapplers at Mining City duals

The Columbia Falls wrestling team competed in the Mining City Duals over the weekend.

With three open weight classes on the team, the Wildcats found themselves giving up 18 points every dual, noted coach Jessie Schaeffer.

Still, they wrestled pretty well. Take away the uncontested matches and they didn’t lose a dual, Schaeffer noted.

Two wrestlers — Justin Windauer and Blake Hoerner — went undefeated.

Rowdy Crump, Chris Rathjen and Tyler Gilfry went 4-1 on the weekend.

“They wrestled really well against solid competition,” Schaeffer said.

The team is scheduled to travel to Browning Thursday, then they compete in the Holiday Classic in Great Falls over the weekend. The girls have a mixer Friday in Polson.
