Mann signs with Nicholls State

Columbia Falls softball slugger Sydney Mann made it official recently, signing a letter of intent to play softball for the Nicholls State University Colonels next year.
Mann is the first Columbia Falls softball player to play Division I ball.
Mann is the daughter of Jesse and Meghann Mann. Her father is a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Columbia Falls.
Nicholls State University is in Thibodaux, Louisiana and is part of the Southland Conference, where they play bigger schools like Ole Miss, Alabama and Texas, to name a few.
The senior batted over just over .500 for the Wildkats last year and had on on base percentage of over .600.
She said she plans on playing shortstop for Nicholls. For the Wildkats she was a utility player last season, pitching and playing the field.
Her goal this year?
“Win state,” she said.
With a solid core of returning players behind her, this year might just be the year the Kats grab a state title.
