Summer officially ends for Columbia Falls athletes this week. Golf practice starts Thursday (Aug. 11), with a JV tourney at Glacier View Golf Course on Monday.

All other sports start practice on Friday, with the first games a couple of weeks later.

Football is on the road its first two games of the season, with its opener Aug. 26 at Stevensville. The following week the Wildcats are on the road against East Helena.

The Wildcats return a solid core of young players this season and should be exciting to watch.

Soccer is the lone sport with home matches to open the season.

The boys and girls both open Aug. 26-27 with matches against Hamilton and Loyola respectively.

The boys are coming off a close loss to Whitefish in the state championship last year and return virtually the entire team. The girls also made it to the post season.

Volleyball opens the year with a tip-off tourney Aug. 26-27 in Hamilton. Their first home match is Aug. 30 against East Helena.

Cross country opens the season in Libby and is close to home at the Flathead Invitational on Sept. 9.
