My name is Sherri Nissen and I currently teach 4th grade at Ruder Elementary. I have been teaching in Columbia Falls for over half of my life. I have witnessed firsthand the dedication of many, many educators over the years. I have also witnessed how our hard work has paid off with the successful and well-educated students who have graduated from our high school and entered the world. It takes a strong team to make this happen. That team includes educators, administrators, community members and a solid school board. I am proud of the work we do. Your vote is important to ensure that we continue in this strong Columbia Falls tradition. I would like to share my thoughts on two of my favorite candidates in the upcoming school board elections.

I know Justin Cheff because I taught his two daughters in fifth grade. He understands what is truly happening in the classrooms in our district and is a supportive parent. He believes in putting students first and understands the importance of having a highly qualified staff. I believe Cheff has the best interest of all the stakeholders in the Columbia Falls school district at heart and will be a good steward of taxpayer money.

Heather Mumby has been on the School District 6 school board for the past three years. She has proven her investment in our community with her sensible and supportive work as a board member. She knows the importance of meeting students’ needs educationally, emotionally, and socially and individualizing instruction. Heather Mumby supports parent involvement and a focus on student mental health.

I think Cheff and Mumby are the strongest candidates running for the school board. Voting for Cheff and Mumby will ensure that we can continue to do what is best for the students and families in Columbia Falls. Please mail in your ballots by May 3 .
