Sun Road reservations end Monday

| September 1, 2021 9:15 AM

Hungry Horse News

Glacier National Park’s ticketed entry to drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road ends on Sept. 6.

The Park had previously announced it would close the Sun Road on the west side for utility work on Oct. 1, but that has been postponed until 2022, Park spokesman Gina Kerzman said Wednesday.

The Park is warning visitors that depending on traffic, the west entrance could close even after the ticketed entry is over. Construction on Highway 2 is still ongoing from Hungry Horse to Stanton Creek, as crews put new pavement down on the road, so at best, people should expect delays.

Inside the Park, the Camas Road is under construction and motorists should expect delays of up to a half hour during the day.

Crews are working on a new entrance station just above Fish Creek as well as other road improvements.

The Many Glacier Road is also under construction. Expect 40 minute delays in each direction and up to three hours at night. It will close for good Sept. 19 as road construction continues.

That work will wrap up this fall.

Frontcountry campgrounds will close on the following dates:

Logging Creek and Quartz Creek, Friday

Fish Creek Campground, Sept. 6
