Columbia Falls Wildcats were thumped by undefeated Hamilton, 55-20, for their final game of the regular season on the road. Wildcat Cody Schweikert was 8 for 21 passing and threw for 138 yards.
The first quarter was neck and neck, with Bronc’s busting out of the gate for the first score, then Schweikert came right back with a 1-yard run into the end zone. Tim Zohner scored again for the Broncs, and a 55-yard pass to Jace Duval from Schweikert put the game at 14-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Things then really fell apart for the Wildcats in the second quarter as they allowed 34 points. Quarterback Tyson Rostad of Hamilton ran for 93 yards and two scores, and was 14 for 18, passing for 217 yards, and had a touchdown to Eli Taylor for 20 yards.
Columbia Falls would a touchdown pass to Duval for 6 yards in the fourth, but never got running back Isaiah Roth rolling, as he was held to just 5 yards on eight carries. Hamilton outgained the Cats 466-185.
The Wildcats go into the playoffs with a No. 4 seed, and will play at home against Miles City for the first round.
