Christmas may be weeks away, but members of the Columbia Falls Lions Club were busy redecorating and relighting about half of the city’s Christmas lights last week.

Every year, the club puts up the lights that go on the light poles around the city. This year, they had to rewire about half of them with LED lights, replete with new tinsel.

The lights had to be rewired to accommodate the new LED lights, noted Rob Hedstrom, who had to rewire all the lights just a couple of years ago because they were getting older.

Pursuit Glacier Park Collection donated funding for the lights, noted Kayla Hartley of the club.

Club members worked a couple of days in Hedstrom’s garage in Columbia Falls to put the lights together. It took 3,000 zip ties, noted club member Kelly Hamilton.

The lights are put up right around Thanksgiving every year.
