For the second year in a row, Columbia Falls senior Julia Martin has organized a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day to benefit the North Valley Food Bank.

The race runs from the Columbia Falls High School and ends there as well. Folks should bring a nonperishable food item. There will be a Toyota pickup at the start/finish line to drop items off in. The race is virtual — you start and end on your leisure. Download the Strava app to your phone to record your time.

Martin is a member of the school cross country team.

“This is a free event to participate in, we just ask that participants bring food donations. Participants can walk/run the course anytime between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” Martin said in an email to the Hungry Horse News.

The route makes a circle through town and is marked with turkeys on plates.
