Laurel D. Stratton

Our beloved mother, Laurel D. Stratton passed peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 25th 2021 in Whitefish.

Born Feb. 27th, 1947, in Whitefish to Eugene and Mildred Stratton, she spent most of her 74 years living in Hungry Horse, and the last 10 or so years living in Martin City.

Growing up in Hungry Horse in the 1950s she enjoyed a happy childhood where she spent a lot of time playing down at the Flathead river, skipping rocks and exploring along its banks. She graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1966. In 1969 she gave birth to her first child Eric, two years later her second child was born, a daughter Tara, and three years later her last child was born, a son Chris. Laurel and her three children lived happily in Hungry Horse for many years, where they would spend their days swimming in the river and walking everywhere exploring the woods and the river. She taught her children to love the simple pleasures of life.

She also was an avid reader, devouring books, a love that persisted until the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Mildred; her beloved brother Richard, a nephew Steven, and a niece Lynette.

She is survived by two brothers Ronald and Jay, a sister Sharon and numerous nieces and nephews; her three children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She chose to be cremated and a small family gathering was held to remember her life. The family will have a service for her in the summer to spread some of her ashes into the Flathead River where she loved to spend so much of her time.

We Miss You. Our hearts still ache with sadness, and many tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no one will ever know. We hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain. To walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.

Darlington Cremation and Burial Service is caring for the family.
