Glacier announces more Sun Road tickets now available

| May 5, 2021 7:25 AM

Glacier National Park has released more tickets for the Going-to-the-Sun Road for early July.

Based on historical openings, the road is expected to be fully open over Logan Pass by then, the Park Service said in a release. Typically the road opens in mid-to-late June, though an exact date is always difficult to determine and the weather plays a big role in the opener.

There have been years when it’s opened, only to temporarily close again due to snow or ice.

As of Thursday morning, tickets were still available and the Hungry Horse News was able to purchase a ticket easily.

The ticketed entry system will be required for anyone entering the east or west entrances or the Camas Road from May 28 to Sept. 6 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Before 6 a.m. and after 5 p.m., a ticket is not required, though an entrance pass is.

Hikers and bicyclists do not require a ticket.

Tickets are good for a week and non-transferable.

About 75% of the tickets are available 60 days in advance on a rolling daily basis. The rest will be available two days in advance and same-day tickets can also be had, if they're available.
