FWP nabs graffiti artist
A Flathead County woman with a recent history of alleged criminal activity was recently caught by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens for spray painting graffiti and artwork on pit toilets and rocks at several fishing access sites.
Sierra Kay Fischer was charged with felony criminal mischief in Flathead County District Court in March for multiple offenses that caused several thousand dollars in damage. But Fischer has been crosswise with the law well before the FWP investigation.
In 2019 she allegedly broke into storage units near Condon, according to Lake County court documents.
In February 2021 she entered a plea deal on the burglary charges and in that deal, a charge of felony bail jumping was dropped.
In the FWP case, the alleged vandalism was at fishing access sites at Pressentine, Old Steel Bridge, Woods Bay, Kokanee Bend, and McWenneger Slough in the Flathead Valley, and Widow Coulee north of Great Falls.
The investigation led game wardens to identify Fischer as a possible suspect. Wardens obtained a search warrant for Fischer’s residence and upon arrival Fischer fled out a back window before being apprehended.
“The wardens did a great job investigating this case. It really shows how their dedication to protecting the resources of Montana goes beyond just fish and wildlife,” said Lee Anderson, warden captain in northwest Montana.
