Bulldogs got the best of Wildcats in tennis last week

Columbia Falls tennis endured a rough day against Whitefish last week when the Bulldogs claimed a blowout victory over the Wildcats at both the Whitefish and Columbia Falls courts on Tuesday.

The Wildcats weathered losses across the board, including girls No. 1 singles player Hannah Schwiekert who saw her first loss of the season during a highly-anticipated matchup against Whitefish’s top-ranked Gracie Smyley. Smyley ended up defeating Schweikert 6-2, 6-1.

Columbia Falls turned around to face Polson on Thursday with a better outcome after bringing home a handful of wins.

The Kats were led against the Lady Pirates by Schweikert who defeated Berkley Ellis 6-2, 7-5. The Cats were led by Malachi Brower who secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Pirate Carson Hupka in a No. 4 singles matchup, as well as No.

2 doubles Nico Lang and Dale Blickhan and No. 3 doubles Logan Heuple

and Finley Sundberg, who each defeated their opponents in three.

The Cats have a home invite against Libby and Ronan starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 8.
