There will be a silent auction for the Hanson family of Columbia Falls at Angie’s Greenhouse on Highway 2 July 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Funds will go to benefit the family, who lost their daughter Brooke, 15, to an alleged drunk driver in May. Brooke was walking down the road when she was struck near the intersection of 12th Avenue West North and Tamarack Drive.

Brooke loved to fish and had the nickname “Brooke Trout.”

Brooke was walking home from a fishing trip when the incident occurred.

Hanson’s family was well-known in the community and her father, Mike, had played Santa Claus for about 15 years each Christmas, friends said.

Items up for auction include framed artwork, a tent, a sleeping bag, an inflatable kayak, two Nikon rifle scopes, several gift baskets including a honey-themed gift basket, a chimney cleaning and much more.
