Crews fighting small fire on Desert Mountain
Crews were fighting a 3/4-acre fire on Desert Mountain Monday. The lightning-caused blaze had nine firefighters on it, Flathead National Forest spokeswoman Beth Parga said.
It’s named the Emery Ridge Fire.
Parga said the fire was listed as zero percent contained, however crews had a hose line around the blaze and were working on a saw line around in in a full suppression effort. They also had a water tender on the scene.
In Glacier National Park there have been two small fires over the weekend.
A fire in Big Prairie that was less than 1/10th of an acre was put out and another small fire near Scalplock Mountain was also extinguished.
The Big Prairie fire was human-caused, the Scalplock Fire was lightning, spokeswoman Gina Kerzman said.
There are several larger fires burning in the state.
The closest to the area is the Burnt Peak Fire near Troy, which is 583 acres on Burnt Peak. It was started by lightning July 7.
