Fire restrictions lifted across most of Flathead Valley
Stage II fire restrictions have been lifted across the region as wetter and cooler weather has become entrenched in the Flathead.
Fire restrictions have been lifted on state, federal and many private lands, with the exception of SPP Montana and Green Diamond Resource company lands, where campfires are still prohibited. SPP Montana and Green Diamond Lands will reopen to public use Aug. 27.
F.H. Stoltze land and Lumber has also reopened its lands for public use.
The restrictions were lifted Aug. 25 across the Flathead and will be lifted Aug. 26 on state lands in Sanders County as well as countywide.
Fire managers remind the public that open burning doesn’t start until Oct. 1 and folks who do have campfires should make sure they are cold to the touch before leaving them.
