Swim team hosts state meet, takes fourth

The Columbia Falls swim team took fourth overall in the AA division at the state swim meet held in Columbia Falls over the weekend.

The Wildcats had several state champions in their respective age groups.

Annika Peterson took the title in the 25 freestyle; Catherine Opalka took first in the 50 breast stroke and third in the 50 butterfly; Alanis Peterson was first in the 50 butterfly in her age group as well.

Also doing well were Sadie Cheff, who took second in the 100 breaststroke; Nolan Rosenthal second in the 100 backstroke, followed by Tyler Venegas who took third.

Sidney won the AA division, followed by Lewistown and Scobey.

Close to 500 swimmers competed in the event.

“Thanks for a great year swimmers, from your coaches,” coach Harry Bagley said.

The team won the divisional meet the week before.
