Weekend road update: Plows near Haystack Creek; Camas and Quarter Circle Bridge Road now open to vehicles
More roads have opened in Glacier National Park to motor vehicles for the season. The Camas Road and the Quarter Circle Bridge Road are now open.
Park plows on the west side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road are near Haystack Creek, said park spokeswoman Gina Kerzman. The hiker-biker closure when crews are working is at Avalanche Creek.
The motorized closure is at Lake McDonald Lodge.
The hiker-biker closure when crews are not working, such as the weekend and later in the evenings, is at the Loop, Kerzman said.
On the east side, the Chief Mountain Road is open for the season and the Sun Road is open to motor vehicles to Rising Sun.
Hikers and bikers can go beyond that, but are urged to use caution due to ice on the road.
Saturday is supposed to be a pleasant day with highs in the 60s.
Sunday is supposed to be much colder, with a chance of snow in the higher elevations and rain in the valleys. The valleys could even see snow Sunday night.
This year the Camas Road will see construction. It’s supposed to start in mid-May.
