Proposed Bad Rock Wildlife Management Area tours coming up

| April 14, 2021 8:30 AM

The Flathead Land Trust will have walking tours of the proposed Bad Rock Canyon Wildlife Management area on April 29 and May 30.

The April 29 tour is at 5:30 p.m. and the May 1 tours are at 10 a.m. 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The proposed wildlife management area is just east of Columbia Falls along the Flathead River and encompasses nearly 800 acres of land owned by the Columbia Falls Aluminum Co.

The Land Trust is working to secure the property through a mix of local fundraising, federal and state grants.

The Trust, the Flathead Lakers and River to Lake Initiative have recently issued a $100,000 matching grant challenge until July 15.

To that end, an online auction is currently underway by the Trust. All auction winning bids and donations will be matched one-for-one under the $100,000 matching grant challenge.
