Wildcat boys soccer thundered into the first half of their 6-1 victory over Bigfork Tuesday night, scoring four goals in the first 9 minutes of the game.

“Our guys brought some razor-edged focus to the start of the game and just executed flawlessly,” said head coach O’Brien Byrd.

Finley Sundberg scored the first two goals and assisted Jason Albin with the next. Albin scored the fourth unassisted.

Bigfork scored with three minutes left in the first half, bringing the halftime score to 4-1.

Freshman Kai Golan had an excellent offensive night, continuously setting up opportunities and providing assists for three of the goals.

“Golan was unstoppable this evening,” said Byrd after the match. “We really should have finished a lot more of the chances he created for us; he created so much on that flank.”

Senior Johnny Carl scored the fifth goal in the 72nd minute and ended the game by kicking the final goal within the last minute. Byrd praised the performance.

“Carl has completely changed his game this year, becoming not only a goal scorer but a provider as well and I’m proud of his growth,” said Byrd.

The win was an important one in the conference standings and keeps the Wildcats on par with Whitefish as the only two teams in the state that are still undefeated, said Byrd.
