A male climber was airlifted off of Mount Gould in Glacier National Park Sept. 1, park spokeswoman Gina Kerzman confirmed.

The male fell and cut his leg and was unable to get off the peak along the Garden Wall on his own.

Fortunately, he had cell phone service on the mountain and was able to call 911 shortly before 6 p.m. Two Bear Air responded and airlifted the man off the mountain to the Lake McDonald helispot at the Apgar Horse Corral.

He was then taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

It marked a busy day for rangers, Kerzman noted. They had several other non life-threatening calls including a couple of people who fell and hit their heads and a person who had an ankle injury on the Highline Trail.
