Winter weather closes Sun Road down to Lake McDonald Lodge. Inside Road also sees closures
Glacier National Park closed the Going-to-the-Sun Road down to Lake McDonald Lodge over the weekend due to wintry weather, as snow and cold firmly gripped even the low elevations of the Park.
Apgar had about three inches of snow on the level. There was more in higher elevations.
Even more cold is on the way, according to the National Weather Service.
Another round of snow and cold is expected Wednesday night into Thursday. Then another surge of cold air is expected over the weekend with more snow, the National Weather Service is predicting.
Highs will only be in the high teens to lower 20s and lows should dip into the single digits in places like Glacier National Park and into the teens to around 10 elsewhere.
In addition to the Sun Road, the Inside North Fork Road is now closed to Doverspike Meadow. The Bowman Lake Road is closed and the road is also gated at Polebridge and at Fish Creek, which is the typical winter closure.
The Camas Road remained open as of presstime.
