Exactly two months after Flathead County had its last reported positive case of COVID-19, the virus has returned to the county, with the Flathead City-County Health Department on Saturday receiving notice from the state of one new confirmed case in Flathead County. On Monday, a second case was reported, a male in his 70s.

The one individual is a woman over the age of 60 and has no recent travel history. The case in under investigation, and all close contacts of the case will be notified, the City-County Health Department said in a press release.

“We want to remind Flathead County residents of the presence of COVID-19 in our community,” Health Officer Hilary Hanson said in the release. “With businesses reopening, it is important that everyone continues to do their part to prevent the spread. We must continue working together to protect our most vulnerable neighbors.”

The Governor’s Coronavirus Task Force on Saturday reported 14 new positive cases in Montana, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 601.

A total of 903 tests have been completed since the state’s last report, with a total of 58,907 people tested as of Monday.
