Open burning over for summer

| July 1, 2020 6:31 AM

County and state officials remind people that spring open burning season ended June 30.

Open burning is prohibited during the months of July, August, and September. Recreational campfires are allowed during prohibited months, unless further fire restrictions are issued by Department of Natural Resources and Conservation or your local fire district. Campfire means a fire set for cooking, warming, or ceremonial purposes which meets the following criteria: not more than four feet in diameter or height; void of overhanging branches; all combustible material is cleared at least one and one-half times the diameter of the fire; or a barbecue in a noncombustible container.
