History meeting
The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls. Highlight of the evening is a presentation by Johanna Hardesty, “Dreams in Wood and Iron — The life of Louis Hill.”
Toastmasters
Toastmasters meets next week Jan. 21 from noon-1 p.m. and its evening meeting Thursday, Jan. 30 from 6:45-8 p.m. at Freedom Bank. Public and guests are always welcome. For more information contact Kristi at 406-871-7999.
Concert for Garden
Noted violinist Wai Mizutani and friends with The Bigfork Food Bank will have a Share the Love Concert at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Bigfork, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. All donations will be shared by Farming for the Future Academy, which runs the garden at the Montana Veterans Home and Homeward Heroes.
Soccer registration
Spring soccer registration for Columbia Falls is now live. Kindergarten - 12th Grade recreational and competitive soccer. The program now has competitive teams at the 4th-8th grade levels. MCT this week
Glacier Gateway School will perform the Missoula Children’s Theater production of the “Snow Queen” this week. There’s a 1:30 p.m. performance Friday for students at the high school Little Theater and a 3 p.m. performance Saturday for families. Tickets are $5 for adults, $25 per family of six.
Nominations sought
Flathead Valley Community College is now accepting nominations for its 11th annual Distinguished Alumni Award.
The award honors a graduate of FVCC for his or her leadership, career achievements, and service and philanthropy to the community and the college. Nominees need not reside in the local area.
The award will be presented to the recipient at the FVCC Alumni and Friends Spring Luncheon on Feb. 26 Nominations must be submitted to the college by 5 p.m. on Feb. 12. Nomination forms are available in the Foundation Office in Blake Hall, online at www.fvcc.edu/alumni-award or by contacting Ben Deremiah at bderemiah@fvcc.edu or 756-3632.
