One year after opening their doors in Columbia Falls, Heavens Peak Health Care is doing well.

After working in the healthcare field for 17 years, including 10 years at the Columbia Falls Health Clinic, Laura Hall, a nurse practitioner, decided it was time to give back to the community by opening her own practice last December. The decision has been well received by the community.

“We have actually been growing quite steadily,” Laura’s husband, Dan Hall, said. “The growth has actually happened much more quickly than we had planned.”

In just over one year, the clinic has already seen more than 2,000 patients.

The growth has happened so quickly in fact that the business is already starting to look for a larger location with more space and has already brought on three additional employees, including head receptionist Ruthie Moyer, medical assistant Tonya Smith and board certified doctor of internal medicine Dr. John Lewison.

While the staff says they see a lot of people that were previous patients of Laura Hall’s before her brief time in Texas, they also say they have been seeing a lot of new patients from around the Flathead Valley and beyond.

“I love it when people come in the door asking if it is true that Laura is back practicing in Columbia Falls. That happens at least once a week. People are excited about it and it never gets old,” Moyer said.

Heavens Peak’s newest addition, Dr. John Lewison, spent time working as a hospitalist at both Flathead Valley hospitals from 2008-2013 and is making his return to the valley after leaving his practice in South Lake Tahoe in California.

“I really enjoy the clinic setting and seeing patients outside of the hospital setting. Laura is pretty much doing nothing but outpatient clinical medicine and that is something I wanted to be a part of. I want to see people and help get them into a healthier place,” Lewison said.

After completing his medical training in Baltimore, Md. and York, Pa., Lewison served as the medical director at UNC Wilmington before becoming a hospitalist in North Carolina. He relocated to the Flathead Valley in 2008 with his wife, Kathleen, an Ob/Gyn physician, and two children, William and Tess.

Lewison has extensive practice experience in many settings, has privileges at North Valley Hospital and Kalispell Regional and was practicing primary care and hospital medicine in South Lake Tahoe, where he began his pursuit of advanced training in complementary and alternative medicine.

With the addition of Lewison, Heavens Peak Health Care continues to expand its available services, which include well child/pediatrics, well woman exams, general exams, CDL/physicals, sports physicals and much more. Heavens Peak Medical can even do minor outpatient procedures and has an on-call mobile imaging unit capable of taking X-Rays.
