Gordon Jeff Peterson

Gordon Jeff Peterson (Norlander) passed away surrounded by family and friends on Feb. 19, 2020. Gordon “Jeff” was born to Selmar Norlander and Betty M. Ysen on March 15, 1958.

Jeff was born and grew up in Chester. It was in the Heart of the Hi-Line where Jeff met the love of his life, Susan L. Sargent (Peterson). They married in November of 1978 and soon had a son, Jeffery W. Peterson and daughter Heather M. Peterson.

Jeff worked hard as a mechanic and truck driver to support his family. In 1984 Jeff moved his family to the Flathead Valley to enjoy and instill the love of the woods and great outdoors into his children. As life continued Jeff also found his way to Ely, Nevada where he worked in the gold mines as a truck driver. Jeff eventually came home to Montana to find his way back to his wife, Susan, who passed in 2015.

Jeff was preceded in death by parents Selmar Norlander and Betty M. Pierson; wife Susan L. Peterson (Sargent), brother Jeffery W Pierson, grandson Tucker J. Peterson, nephew David D. Erickson, adoptive fathers Glen Peterson and Ervin Pierson; along with numerous beloved aunts and uncles.

Jeff is survived by mother-in-law Ona A. Zorn, stepson Shane Gjesdal, son Jeffery W. Peterson his wife Ranee; daughters Heather M. Peterson her husband Mike Allen; Susie M. Thompson her husband Jon; grandchildren Cameron W., Hunter T., Jeffery M., Denali R. Peterson; siblings Linda Erickson her husband Stuart; Mike Norlander, Bruce Norlander his wife Kathy; Susan Peterson, Cathy Peterson, Cindy Skramstad her husband Brad; and brother-in-law Dennis Sargent, his wife Sarah; as well as many nieces and nephews and Jeff and Susie’s beloved wiener dogs, Missy and Lilly.

Per Jeff’s wishes no service will be held; cremation has taken place and his ashes will be spread with his wife’s at Graves Creek at the Hungry Horse Reservoir on Sept. 13, 2020.
