Bar stool winners will see $200 purse this year
This year’s bar stool races at Cabin Fever Days will come with a bigger purse for the pusher and the rider.
Glacier Distilling has upped the ante on the prizes for first-place in each category and now the rider and pusher in each class will both receive $200.
Races start at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with finals Sunday at 3 p.m.
Sugar Hill in Martin City will be professionally groomed for the event, which typically includes copious amounts of adult beverages.
The entry fee for the races is $20 per class. Signup is Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until noon, though next year the races will be pre-registered online.
A $5 Cabin Fever Button is required to enter all events.
In addition to bar stool races there is a co-ed leg wrestling tournament Friday at 6 p.m. at the Dam Town Tavern, snowshoe softball in Martin City at 3 p.m. Saturday at the ball field, an arm wrestling tournament at the Stonefly Lounge from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and a Roshambo tourney at the Stonefly at 4 p.m.
There’s no a need to drive, either. A free shuttle runs between bars for patrons.
The groomed snow on Sugar Hill is made possible by Xanterra.
Proceeds of the events go to help a host of Canyon community causes, including the Martin City Volunteer Fire Department, Canyon Quick Response Unit and several others.
