Golf tourney a big success

| August 12, 2020 6:50 AM

On behalf of the Wildc/kat Athletic Endowment Association (WAEA), I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the Columbia Falls Community and businesses for your attendance and support at the WAEA Golf Tournament fundraiser on Sunday, July 26. A huge shout out this year to Meadow Lake Golf staff for hosting our annual tournament. Once again, the Wildc/kat supporters have made our event a huge success. In addition, WAEA is very fortunate to have a list of volunteers that we call on each year and their continued support and commitment is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Jim Peacock, Shelby Johnson, and the cross-country teams for helping with the golf event. Their efforts made the tournament games and operations flow effortlessly. Without our local businesses and dedicated individuals, this event and program would not be possible.

As always, the principal will remain untouched, with the interest earned to be used to assist the CFHS athletes and their families defray the cost of participating in the high school athletic programs. The goal of the WAEA is to provide necessary funding to allow CFHS athletes to play without paying for the fees and to support the school with capital and other infrastructure needs. This past year we were able to donate over $10,000 to the school district in support of Wildc/kat athletics. We are so lucky to live in a community that appreciates the importance of school-based activities.

I am so grateful to have such a great team on my side with the WAEA Board members, Gary Luce, Jessica Rice, Lorinda Walter, Demari Walter, Mary Grilley, Miranda Harrah, Tyler Ladenburg, Ashley Robison and Colleen Finberg. Their commitment and passion for the WAEA is obvious. Your continued support and contributions will work for our athletes for many years to come.

Kyle Johnson

President of WAEA
