While there has been considerable lightning in the Flathead Valley in the past few days from thunderstorms, there have been few reports of wildfires.

The Flathead National Forest has a crew on a fire near Potter Creek. It is 3/4-acre about 5 miles west of Olney. A helicopter was dropping water on it and an engine crew was working on it as well as of presstime.

Glacier National Park had no new fire reports as of presstime.

Saturday saw several thunderstorms in the area with little rain. July was a dry month, but June saw nearly 4.5 inches of rain locally.

The largest fire in the area is the Magpie Rock Fire located on the Flathead Reservation near Dixon.

The wildfire is about 3,539 acres and is about 40 percent contained.
