Event next next month gives a big boost to local non-profits
The Whitefish Community Foundation has announced it will join the global giving day to help unleash generosity and connect donors with nonprofits that are suffering operationally during the COVID-19 crisis. The annual Giving Tuesday will be renamed A Day of Giving and Unity and will be a 28-hour campaign beginning at 8 a.m., Tuesday, May 5 and ending at noon on May 6.
Nonprofits interested in participating in this day of giving can apply through the short application found on the Whitefish Community Foundation website at whitefishcommunityfoundation.org. The Community Foundation will offer a $1,000 match to participating nonprofits that raise a minimum of $2,000 or more in the campaign. The Foundation is organizing this campaign and will offer it for free to participating charities. It is open to nonprofits located in Flathead County and Eureka.
Nonprofits must apply by April 20 to be included in advertising for the Day of Giving and Unity. Application to participate will close on May 4. The campaign will be offered as an online campaign, and donations will also be accepted by phone at 406-863-1781.
“The Day of Giving and Unity is a way to help nonprofits that are suffering from a loss of donations, cancellation of events, and for many, a surge on their programs,” said Linda Engh-Grady, Whitefish Community Foundation President. “By offering nonprofits a free campaign we hope to help them raise critical operating funds in a collective and united way,” she said.
Whitefish Community Foundation has the ability and experience to offer nonprofits an online platform and host the giving campaign for free. All of of donations will go to the designated charities minus the credit card fees. Donors will have the opportunity to cover the credit card fees when they are making their gift online.
