Puma talk

Author Jim Williams will give a talk, “Path of the Puma, The Remarkable Resilience of the Mountain Lion” on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. at the Montana House in Apgar. Williams is an award-winning, professional wildlife biologist who has worked for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks for the last 28 years. While in graduate school, Jim studied mountain lion ecology on Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front and has focused on mountain lion and other wildlife conservation issues ever since. Girls youth hoops

Girls youth basketball registration or grades 1 through 6 is now open at www.cfmtschools.netthrough Sept. 19. Varsity Coach Cary Finberg will kick off the season with an informational meeting. Interested coaches and referees can contact Karla Milhollen at the School District 6 offices at 892-6550, extension 1421.

Metals class

Take an introduction to metals class at Columbia Falls High School. Classes will meet on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the high school metal shop, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 5 and 12. Cost is $120. Sign ups and payments may be made at Columbia Falls High School office before the first class. Instructor is Rod Cogliati. If you have any questions you may call the High School at 892-6501.

Community Market

This Thursday the Community Market at the Coop features music by Luke Dowler, beer by Great Northern Brewing and the spirits of Willie’s Distillery. The market runs from 5 p.m. to dark.

History meeting

The Columbia Falls Historical Society invites everyone to join them on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m., at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls for a meeting to discuss future endeavors of the organization. Anyone with an interest in preserving the history of our area is encouraged to attend.

Hawk watch

Flathead Audubon is offering a field trip to the Hawk Watch site in Jewel Basin on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to see migrating fall raptors.
